The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two fatalities in Southeast Missouri over the holiday weekend, though none were from Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry or Scott counties.
During its Thanksgiving weekend traffic crash counting period, which was from 6 p.m. on Nov. 26 to 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30, Troop E officers investigated 45 traffic crashes, which included 16 injuries. Troop E officers made 24 arrests for driving while intoxicated, issued 416 speeding summonses, and 166 seat belt and 16 child restraint citations, and assisted 197 motorists.
Of those involved in motor vehicle accidents, three people from Jackson and a man from Ironton, Mo., were injured in Bollinger and Cape Girardeau counties.
Three Jackson residents were injured in accidents on Nov. 28.
The next day an Ironton, Mo., man suffered moderate injuries at a crash in Bollinger County.
