The Missouri State Highway Patrol is planning a sobriety checkpoint in Cape Girardeau County sometime in July or August.
Officers from Troop E, in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint and a hazardous moving-vehicle operation either in July or August, according to a news release by Capt. George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The sobriety checkpoint will be in Cape Girardeau County and the hazardous moving-vehicle operation will be throughout the Troop E area, the release said.
The checkpoint will be an operation on a specific highway that is designed to check every driver to ensure they are sober, the release said. The hazardous moving operation is designed to target vehicles that are being operated in a hazardous manner.
