Highway 51 work starts Wednesday
Highway 51 in Perry, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties will be reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction at several locations in coming weeks as a state highway contractor widens the shoulder and puts an asphalt overlay on the road. The section of road designated for the work runs from the Interstate 55 Outer Road in Perryville, Mo., to Route 72 in Patton, Mo., the Missouri Department of Transportation announced. The work will start with milling and widening the two-foot shoulders, then proceed to the asphalt overlay. The work will begin Wednesday and continue through Sept. 18. Workers will be on site from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
