PADUCAH, Ky. — Strong and gusty winds may pose a minor traffic hazard today, according to the National Weather Service office in Paducah, Ky.
A weather outlook issued this afternoon on the weather service's website said to expect wind gusts up to 30 miles an hour, which can challenge drivers of a higher-profile vehicles, while pedestrians should watch for small debris that may blow around.
Among the Missouri counties affected are Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, Scott, Perry, Stoddard, Mississippi, New Madrid, Butler. Union, Pulaski and Alexander counties in Illinois are included in the high-wind area, as are parts of western Kentucky and southwest Indiana.
These same areas may experience severe thunderstorms on Sunday morning, with the possibility of damaging wind gusts and hail or an isolated tornado. Spotter activation may be necessary Sunday.
