High Street Station's owners are opening a pop-up shop in Cape Girardeau's Indie House next month, just in time for Mother's Day, but that won't detract from their shop in uptown Jackson -- if anything, the new shop will be an additional draw.

The boutique at 106 S. High St. in Jackson will remain open, said owners and sisters Lisa Walker and Lynette Strange, and will continue to provide gifts, fashion, jewelry and decor.

Strange said Laurie Everett, owner of The Indie House at 605 Broadway and Annie Laurie's Antiques, reached out to her earlier this year to see if she'd be interested in having a space at Indie House, and, as Walker said, it quickly fell into place.

So quickly, the sisters plan to have the space open for business by mid-May -- just in time for Mother's Day.

Everett said she's known Strange for several years, and always liked what High Street Station does.

"Indie House has a certain vibe about it," Everett said. "We really wanted to have another business in that would complement what we're already doing. They seemed like a wonderful fit; I talked to Lynette, and it just worked out great for her and for us."

Walker said she loves the vibe at Indie House, and the positive energy. "It felt right," she said.

Strange agreed. "We want women to feel inspired, here," she said, "and I feel that way at Indie House."

Walker said this isn't the first time in the 14 years they've been in business that they've tried to have a presence in Cape Girardeau, but but this smaller shop will be more focused, and give customers a taste of what to expect at the flagship store in Jackson.

The shop in Indie House will be on the main level, in the backroom Brickwood Gallery occupied before moving upstairs.

Even though the room is small, there will still be plenty of display space, Walker said.

"It will give customers a chance to see what we have to offer," Walker said. "Like a taste of High Street Station, Hopefully it will whet some appetites."

"We're not going away!" Strange said. "Our presence here in Jackson will always be stronger."
