The Southeast Missouri Regional Museum on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University will hold the university's 29th annual High School Art Symposium starting Sunday and running through Feb. 18.
An opening reception for the artists at the museum will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The exhibit showcases 73 pieces created by promising junior and senior high school students from private and public schools in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, including first, second and third place in the following categories: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers and photography. Awards will also be given for best of show and a merit award, each of which has a scholarship prize.
The exhibition juror is Dr. Samuel Bishop, semiretired art professor at the university.
Regular museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information on the exhibition, call 651-2301.
