The Missouri Supreme Court denied a petition that sought to move the special election to fill the 120th Legislative District's empty House seat from August to April.
Pamela Grow, lead plaintiff and chairwoman of the 120th Legislative District Republican Committee, said she received the news of the decision late Monday afternoon but heard "nothing with respect to the vote particulars and judicial reasoning."
Grow and others in her district filed the petition in hopes of getting a new representative in office before the General Assembly ends its session in May.
The district's seat has been vacant since the June 5 resignation of Jason Smith, who was elected to Congress during a special election to replace U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson.
The special election for the 120th district will be Aug. 5 to coincide with municipal primary elections.
