HICKMAN, Ky. -- The Dorena-Hickman Ferry resumed service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, about a half a day earlier than expected. The ferry is resuming service just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend. The ferry crosses the Mississippi River between Hickman and Dorena, Mo. It had been closed since Nov. 17 for a U.S. Coast Guard inspection and maintenance. The official inspection of the ferry is required every five years.

The ferry connects Kentucky Highway 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Highway 77 near Dorena.
