The Jackson Heritage Association has decided to sponsor the writing and publishing of a book length history of Jackson and the surrounding communities of Gordonville, Millersville, Burfordville, Daisy, Oak Ridge, Tilsit and Fruitland.

The primary content of the book will be family histories, with families asked to write an historical sketch of not more than 500 words and submit a photograph for the book. There will be no cost.

The book will also include a general history of each town, and the possible inclusion of the histories of various organizations, businesses, schools, churches, landmarks, etc.

At least two representatives from each community listed are needed to help compile the history.

People interested in lending their talents to the compilation of the book should contact the members of the book committee: Pat Fosse, chairwoman at 243-6188; Bernard Schaper at 243-2281; Catherine Stoverink at 243-4667; or Barbara Lohr at 243-3753. A list of people involved in the project will be released soon.

The hardbound, library book will be published by Turner Publishing Co. of Paducah, Ky., a company that has published hundreds of county history books nationwide. The company will assist the group and area residents throughout the project.

Meetings and continued information about the book will be announced in this paper.
