The Salvation Army needs food donations and volunteers to help make its annual free Thanksgiving Dinner a success.
The dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope, on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.
Fixings for a traditional feast are needed, said Capt. Joyce Gauthier.
"We still need turkeys and hams and instant mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and marshmallows for candied yams. And brown sugar, too," Gauthier said. "If someone would like to donate napkins or paper cups, we could use that too."
Baked dessert items and brown and serve rolls are also needed, she said.
"Whatever we don't get in, we're going to buy," Gauthier said. "So whatever the public can donate, that will make it that much better for us."
The Salvation Army expects 400 to 450 guests for dinner.
"About half of those will be deliveries to homes," she said. "The other half come and eat in our building."
Volunteers are needed to help serve the dinner and to help deliver meals.
Donations may be dropped off at the Salvation Army's building on Good Hope. To volunteer, or to arrange for a home-delivered meal, call the Salvation Army at 335-7000.
