Total rain at the airport from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. was 2.25 inches. There were reports of up to 3 inches of rain in the Commerce and Patton areas.

The heavy rain caused a mudslide on Highway 74 west of Cape Girardeau and resulted in some streets flooding in Cape Girardeau, Scott City and Chaffee. Kevin McMeel, city assistant public works director, said the usual low-lying intersections were flooded before 8 a.m., but the water quickly receded. Shortly before 8 a.m., water in the middle of the 600 block of South Ellis was near the bumper of a parked car.
