The National Weather Service expanded its heat advisory issued Friday.
The advisory now covers Bollinger, Butler, Carter, Cape Girardeau, Perry, Mississippi, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne counties in Missouri and all of Southern Illinois.
The advisory lasts until 6 p.m. Sunday.
The weather service said hot and humid conditions are expected every late morning and afternoon through Sunday, with high temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indexes from 100 to 105 degrees.
The forecast high at the Cape Girardeau Regional airport is in the mid-90s Saturday and Sunday. Monday is expected to be cooler, with a high in the upper 80s, after a chance of storms associated with a cold front moving through Sunday night.
