Three Heartland Care and Rehab residents were recently awarded certificates for their essays on "Advancing Excellence: A Resident's Perspective on Quality," sponsored by the National Consumer for Quality Long-Term Care.
This year the National Citizens' Coalition for Nurisng Home Reform challenged residents to submit a drawing, poem, essay or photo relating to their perspective on quality care for National Long-Term Care Residents' Rights Week, celebrated from Oct. 7 to 13.
Recognizing the importance of individuality and the need to understand how personal preference affects care, the NCCNHR asked residents what quality meant to them.
Entries will be on display at the NCCNRC The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long Term Care Annual Conference held Oct. 21 through 25 in Arlington, Va. A selection of entries will appear in a special 2007-2008 residents' rights calendar, serving as a companion to the 2007 residents' rights week (held Oct. 2 to 8) materials. A number of the entries that do not appear in the calendar will be on a special section of the NCCNHR Web site at www.nccnhr.org.
