St. Francis Medical Center's two-part "Don't Eat Your Heart Out" seminar, which was canceled in late February due to the weather has been rescheduled for mid-April.
St. Francis cardiac rehabilitation nurse Linda Lawrence will present the first part of the program on April 15. The second half of the program will be held April 22. Both sessions will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the St. Francis Health and Education Centre in Cape Girardeau.
The program, co-sponsored by the Medical Center and the Heart Institute at St. Francis, is designed to help people lose weight and reduce their risk of heart disease by limiting their dietary fat. The program's goal is to teach participants how to recognize fat in everyday cooking, how to analyze the fat content on food labels, how to choose heart-healthy foods when eating out, and how to interpret their own cholesterol test results. A number of heart-healthy recipes will also be available.
The registration fee for the program is $5 per session. ($10 for both sessions) To register, or for more information, call the St. Francis Information Center at Jackson, 243-5222.
