The Missouri Housing Development Commission will hold public hearings at three locations in January to discuss developers' proposals for funding of affordable-housing developments in 2000.
Included are two proposals for Cape Girardeau, one for Jackson and a number of others in Southeast Missouri. They are at Howardville, Kennett, Lilbourn, Malden, Marston, New Madrid, Perryville, Piedmont and Sikeston.
The Southeast Missouri developments will be discussed at a hearing to be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 at the St. Louis Airport Mariott Hotel in St. Louis. Other hearing will be held at Kansas City Jan. 6, and Jefferson City Jan. 14.
MHDC administers rental housing production programs including the federal and state low- income-housing tax credits.
During the hearings, MHDC staff will describe the developments under consideration and accept and record public comments.
Anyone interested in attending a hearing may submit verbal or written comments. In addition, written comments may be submitted to the Missouri Housing Development Commission, 3435 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo. 64111-2415, or through the office of the mayor or chief elected official of the locality in which the development is to be located.
The commission will make a decision on funding Feb. 18, said Dave Bryan, MHDC public information officer.
MHDC received 119 development proposals for funding. Two proposals were later withdrawn and two proposals were returned due to incomplete applications.
Included on the list are three proposed developments in Cape Girardeau County, two by Phillips Development headquartered in Little Rock, Ark., and one by Thorn Street Apartments L.P. of Charleston.

* Piedmont: Meadowbrook Apartments by Piedmont Properties II, L.P., 16 one-bedroom, eight two-bedroom units.
* New Madrid: Garden Apartments by RCH Development Inc. of Jackson, six one-bedroom, 10 two-bedroom and 24 three-bedrooms units.
* Lilbourn: Garden Apartments by RCH Development Inc. of Jackson, 12 one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom units.
* Malden: Garden Apartments by RCH Development Inc. of Jackson, 25 one-bedroom, 15 two-bedroom, 10 three-bedrooms and four four-bedroom units.
* Howardville: 16 two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom units by John C. Rorris/Joe Shepard, St. Louis.; also a 24-unit complex by the same developers calling for eight one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom and four three-bedroom units..
* Marston: Five one-bedroom, eight two-bedroom and six three-bedroom units by John C. Rorris/Joe Shepard, St. Louis.
