POPLAR BLUFF -- The Southeast Missouri Area Health Education Center (SEMO-AHEC) is seeking health care professionals to assist with pre-professional development in 25 Southeast Missouri counties.
Many of the counties have been designated by the state as either Health Professional Shortage Areas or Medically Underserved Areas or both. SEMO-AHEC is a program committed to improving rural Missouri's health through community and academic partnerships facilitating quality, accessible primary health care, professional educational opportunities and related resources and programs.
SEMO-AHEC is looking for health care professionals to serve as mentors and preceptors for high school students interested in entering a health care profession. In some cases, mentors will provide or arrange shadowing experiences for students. Preceptors will host undergraduate physician and other allied health profession students for four to eight-week clinical training rotations. SEMO-AHEC will coordinate activities, provide on-going technical support and arrange for housing.
For more information, write: SEMO-AHEC, Attn. Mentor/Preceptor Program, 413 Peoplar Street P.O. Box 1068, Poplar Bluff, Mo., 63902-1068.
