Haywood City man arrested

BENTON, Mo. -- A Haywood City, Mo., man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges.

Charlie Smith, 36, is being held in Scott County Jail on drug trafficking charges.

Charges against Smith, also known as "Big Daddy," stem from an undercover narcotics investigation, said Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell.

The sheriff said Smith sold controlled substances to undercover informants.

Sheriff's deputies, working with agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, searched Smith's home and found marijuana and crack cocaine, Ferrell said.
