HAYTI -- A Hayti woman was killed and two others injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in Pemiscot County, three miles east of Hayti.
Iris Merrell, 72, of Hayti was fatally injured when the car she was driving struck a pickup truck driven by Thomas Walker, 30, of Dyersburg, Tenn.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Walker's truck was traveling south on county road 337. Walker attempted to cross county road 344 when his vehicle was struck by Merrell's car, which was traveling east.
Walker received minor injuries and was taken to Pemiscot County Hospital. Also injured in the accident was Amanda Merrell, who received moderate injuries and was also taken to Pemiscot County Hospital.
The Highway Patrol also reported Sunday the death of Glenda Sanders of Fredericktown from injuries sustained in a Bollinger County accident on Nov. 30.
Sanders was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Erma Graham of Bonne Terre, who was killed in the accident. Graham's car was struck on Highway 72, eight miles east of Fredericktown, by a vehicle driven by Marcia Cook of Fredericktown.
Sanders was transported in serious condition to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, where she remained for a week. She died Sunday.
