Bales of hay were intentionally set on fire in Fruitland Sunday night and the fire chief there wants help in making sure it doesn't happen again. Fruitland firefighters responded to several bales of hay that had been intentionally set along Route FF, just west of Fruitland, chief Dean Riley said. "Kids are bad about lighting bales of hay and running off," Riley said. "The only good thing about it is, is they waited until after we got some rain. It would have been real bad if they hadn't." Riley said they had a series of these arson fires in years past and he wants people who have bales of hay along county roads to move them farther from the roads, he said.
