The Hansel and Gretel Shoppe, a children's-wear and gift boutique, has returned to the Town Plaza area.
The business, which has been at West Park Mall for 11 years, has moved to 2116 Town Plaza. It was previously in the Kroger Plaza now the Plaza Galleria area prior to moving to the mall in 1981.
"We'll be observing our 20th year in 1993," said Mike Newell. "We opened in 1973 in a 500-square-foot brick building on Frederick Street. Over the past 19 years we have had five locations. We've grown in space with each move."
Mike and Diann Newell are owners of the shop.
The new place, next to Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream in Town Plaza, has 3,000 square feet.
"The building has been completely redecorated to accommodate the up-scale merchandise," said Newell.
The store carries infant to teen girls' wear as well as ladies custom designed items and accessories, said Newell. Boys' wear includes newborn and infant sizes only.
"Hand-painted shirts, jog sets, shoes and jackets as well as custom-appliqued items are our specialty," said Newell. "Personalized items such as lunch boxes, picture frames and nursery items are also available."
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
