A man with what appeared to be a gun robbed a fast food stand on William Street shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Cape Girardeau police said.
An employee at Hamburger Express told police that just after a man bought a soda he pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The employee handed over the cash drawer, and the man fled on foot, police said.
It was uncertain whether the gun used in the robbery was real or a toy, the employee told police.
Police collected the man's spilled soda cup and $100 bills that had fallen out of the cash drawer as evidence. The man, who had not been wearing a mask, fled west from the fast food stand at 902 William.
