Planning is under way for the American Cancer Society's annual Jail and Bail set for Oct. 28.
Jail and Bail raises thousands of dollars each year for various American Cancer Society projects, which range from research into cancer prevention to services for cancer patients.
This year's theme ties into Halloween; the event will be called "Cancerween."
"Jail and Bail participation is strictly voluntary," said Viney Mosley, Southeast Regional Executive Director for the American Cancer Society's Missouri Division. The 12 ghouls and goblins will be captured and taken to the "dungeon" at West Park Mall.
Once at the dungeon, participants will be required to call friends and co-workers and solicit pledges to the American Cancer Society.
"For $25 people can arrange a `surprise' capture," said Janet Esicar, co-chairman of this year's Jail and Bail campaign. "That is, they can arrange to have someone captured by one of our Jail and Bail officers," added co-chairman Terri Drury.
Other American Cancer Society volunteers helping organize the event are Pam Back, Tammy Bohnert, Gloria Davis, Linda Ferrell, John Foley, Kim Groves, Carol Keeler, Laura Sparkman and Jim Tweedy.
