If you are getting all dressed up during the week of Halloween, there are plenty of places to show off your costume or get in the spirit of the occasion.
The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the third annual Haunted Hall of Horror Thursday through Monday from 7 to 11 p.m. at the A. C. Brase Arena Building.
Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 or younger.
There will also be Halloween Happenings at the A.C. Brase Arena Building tonight beginning at 6. All events are free.
There will be a coloring contest for children ages 3 to 7 and a pumpkin-carving or decorating contest for children ages 8 to 12. Participants must bring their own pumpkin, carving tools and supplies.
At 6:30 p.m., magician Bill Coomer will perform. At 7 p.m. there will be a costume carnival for children ages 2 to 10. A hay maze is scheduled the same evening. For more information call the A. C. Brase Arena Building at 335-5421.
There will be a Safe Halloween Party Halloween night from 6 to 8 at the West Park Mall.
The evening will include trick or treating and a costume contest for all ages.
Videos 'n' Creme and Kids World will hold a pumpkin-decorating contest.
Decorated pumpkins should be brought into the stores by Monday in time for the public to judge all entries.
Rules of decoration are that pumpkins can be painted, glued or have glitter applied to them.
But carving isn't allowed as part of the decoration. Prizes will be awarded in each age group: 4 and younger, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10.
Winners will be announced at the Halloween Party Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Rocky Holler USA will hold Haunted Hayrides Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 10 from now until Oct. 31.

The St. Louis Iron Mountain Railway is offering a Halloween Express Oct. 29 and 30. Free treats and a costume contest will be offered on the train.
The train will operate that Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. That Sunday the train will have rides at 1 and 3 p.m.
There will also be a dinner train Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 6. For more information call 243-1688.
The Jackson Jaycees will also hold hayrides Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m.
The Jaycees are operating a haunted house in conjunction with the hayrides. Both are at the old toll road in Jackson.
There will be hayrides the following Thursday through Saturday and Monday, Oct. 31, beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets for hayrides and the haunted house are $7.50 for adults and $3 for children.
Those who are interested in participating in just one event will be charged $4.
In addition, the six social sororities at Southeast Missouri State University each will host a Halloween party at 5 p.m. Oct. 30.
The parties, open to children of any age, are for the children of alumni or faculty, and those attending area schools or Head Start.
