A Cape Girardeau man will spend more than nine years in federal prison on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.

Ryan Blunt, 33, who has a record of convictions for felonies ranging from failure to pay child support to drug dealing and vehicle tampering, was arrested after a search of a North Spanish Street home. A search of the home on Aug. 1, 2007, conducted with the consent of the woman who rented the home, uncovered a .38 caliber revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition and an additional 88 rounds of ammunition. The woman identified the gun as belonging the Blunt, who shared the residence with the woman.

Federal law bars convicted felons from owning guns. He was sentenced to a total of 110 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey.
