Vicki McLemore of Cape Girardeau has been named Woman of the Year by the City of Roses Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA).
McLemore is active in accounting and is staff accountant for Stanley, Dirnberger, Hopper & Associates in Cape Girardeau.
Annually, each ABWA chapter elects one of its members for the award. Selection is based on the member's achievements in her field, education and community activities, and participation in the association.
McLemore, who has a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University, joined the local chapter in 1989 and has served as treasurer for two years. She also worked on the "Scrap Book" and "Bulletin" committees for two years.
"Her enthusiastic leadership has been very important in spearheading new projects and assuring the success of others," said Joy Engelhart, president of the local ABWA.
McLemore now is eligible to compete for the 1993 Top Ten Business Women of ABWA and the American Business Woman of ABWA awards, which will be announced in October at ABWA's 1993 National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
The ABWA is a national association dedicated to bringing together businesswomen of diverse backgrounds and providing opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition. ABWA has more than 100,000 members in the United States and Puerto Rico.
