The group collected about 200 children's books, which were donated to the Safe House last week.

The International Reading Association is a worldwide organization that promotes literacy throughout the community.

The local group formed in June and meets once a month at the University Center on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.

Officers are Erin Haney, president; Kamila Myrick, vice president; and Shari Eagan, publicity chairperson.
