One hundred and seventy Southeast Missouri State University students were honored at the annual Greek Week Academic Excellence reception on April 19.
William Ellis of Southeast's agriculture faculty was named the outstanding professor of the year by the Greek organizations. He was praised for having a relaxed classroom atmosphere and an ability for fair decision making.
Ellis has worked with the summer orientation program, been involved in the homecoming steering committee and been active in the Greek system.
Of the 170 students honored at the reception, 52 received 4.0 grade point averages in either the 1993 spring or fall semesters. The remaining 118 received 3.5 GPAs or better.
Academic awards were also given to sororities and fraternities as a whole.
Delta Delta Delta sorority and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity had the best overall chapter grades last spring. Alpha Chi Omega sorority and Sigma Nu fraternity had the best grades during the fall semester.
