Gray Easter will give way to spring weather later in week

Easter was gray and chilly in Cape Girardeau, with highs in the upper 40s and rain developing late in the afternoon. Almost half of an inch had fallen by 6 p.m. The city's parks were abandoned by those celebrating the holiday.

John Dissauer, meteorologist for KFVS12, said that things would begin to warm up as early as today. Temperatures in the 60s could be expected with sunshine in the afternoon.

The week will continue to warm, Dissauer said, with temperatures up in the 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dissauer dismissed the superstition that rain on Easter Sunday means rain for the next seven Sundays.

"I usually don't pay attention to those sorts of things," he said.

"People ask me questions like that all the time, about the Farmer's Almanac too, and if I were a betting man I wouldn't put money on any of those legends."

Dissauer said there was a chance of rain on Saturday.
