With plenty of pomp and circumstance, the commencement season begins next week and continues through early June as seniors say goodbye to high school.
Central High School seniors will graduate June 4 at 8 p.m. at the Show Me Center. The class of 1993 should include 281 students. University of Missouri-St. Louis Chancellor Blanche Touhill will be the speaker.
Jackson commencement exercise will be held June 1 at 7:30 p.m. on the school's football field. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium. School officials expect 260 seniors to graduate.
Commencement speakers are faculty members Ed Seabaugh and Francis Dooley. Students elect faculty speakers for the program.
Baccalaureate services will be held for Cape Girardeau and Jackson graduating seniors on May 23, sponsored by the respective ministerial alliances.
Both services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jackson's will be held in the high school gymnasium; Cape Girardeau's in the Holiday Inn Convention Center.
Notre Dame High School will hold its graduation ceremony May 28 at 7:30 p.m. Commencement speaker is the Rev. Michael Mulhearn of Kansas City.
An awards assembly is scheduled May 28 at 9:15 a.m., and Graduation Mass will be held May 27 at 11 a.m. All activities take place at Notre Dame.
Twenty Oak Ridge seniors are scheduled to graduate May 21 at 8 p.m. in the Oak Ridge gymnasium. The speaker is Dixie Kohn, president of Mineral Area College. An awards ceremony is planned May 25 at 10 p.m.
Chaffee will hold a commencement service combined with baccalaureate service at 7 p.m. on May 23. An anticipated 43 students will graduate.
Delta High School will hold its commencement at 2 p.m. on May 23 in the gymnasium. Class valedictorian Gina Eftink and senior Lana Cook will speak. The class includes 29 seniors.
The commencement ceremony for 67 seniors at Scott City High School is scheduled for May 28 at 7:30 p.m. The salutatorian and valedictorian will speak.
Thomas Kelly High School will hold commencement for 68 seniors May 21 at 8 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The valedictorian and salutatorian will speak.
Seniors at Perryville High School will graduate May 28 at 8 p.m. with commencement ceremonies. The class includes 180 seniors. Students selected Steve Kuffle, a math teacher at the school, as the commencement speaker.
Thirty-five seniors at Meadow Heights High School will graduate May 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
Commencement services at Woodland High School are planned May 21 at 8 p.m. in the gymnasium. A baccalaureate service is scheduled May 16 at 8 p.m. About 48 seniors are expected to graduate.
