In May, two new businesses will open in West Park Mall.

The Spice of Life, a gourmet food store, will feature a variety of international foods.

While management hasn’t determined all the goods the store will carry, Brittany Meadows, marketing director at Taste of Cape, said shoppers can expect to find a number of cooking sauces, pastas, dried and cured meats, and unique teas and sodas.

The store is expected to open around Memorial Day and will be between Francesca’s and Gymboree in the Macy’s wing of the mall.

In the Penney’s wing, Love N’ Confection will offer a selection of sweets and confections, including macarons and fudge.

The kiosk is expected to open May 1, near American Eagle and Justice.

The Spice of Life and Love N’ Confection are two of the latest ventures of Dr. Sonjay Fonn, who owns several businesses in the region, including bars and restaurants in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Though the two mall stores are separate entities, there will be some connection between the two.

While some of the confections offered at the kiosk will be supplied by other companies, Meadows said it’s likely the fudge will be prepared at The Spice of Life.

Meadows said in the future they hope to eventually offer cooking classes and cooking demonstrations at The Spice of Life.

“We are excited to bring such exotic offerings to the West Park Mall to inspire people who like to cook and try new things,” Meadows said in an email.
