Those traveling near the western section of Gordonville Road in Cape Girardeau may have noticed additional traffic and road closures in the area.
Over the next several weeks, continued construction at Saint Francis Medical Center will lead to changes near the Gordonville Road and Saint Francis Drive intersection.
The work will be done in four phases, according to a news release from the city. Phase 1, which prohibits left turns from Saint Francis Drive onto Gordonville Road and closes a portion of westbound Gordonville Road to through traffic, is in progress.
The length of time it will take to complete each phase depends on weather and coordination with contractors.

All businesses will remain open and accessible to the public by various means, even during road closures, said the city news release, but motorists should be aware of possible temporary entrance and exit changes to busineses in the area. The city also asks drivers use caution in the busy area, watch for detours and other road-sign changes and consider using alternate routes.
