Just like anyone else Kenneth Neal of Gordonville didn't think anything of it when he bought a ticket for a truck giveaway from the Jackson Boys Youth League.

Then he received a call where he was informed he had won a 1996 Chevy S-10 extended cab pickup from Brennecke Chevrolet.

Mayor Paul Sander pulled Neal's name out of the hat on Saturday Aug. 17.

Neal picked up his new truck on Wednesday.

"Usually when you buy those tickets you think its a donation, you never expect to win something," Neal said.

"I will buy more tickets in the future," he added.

Two minutes before the phone rang at Neal's home to tell him he had won a new truck his wife asked if he ever was repaid $40 he had loaned to a man he came upon having car trouble out west.

He said he hadn't and two minutes later the phone rang to say he had won a new truck.

"The good Lord saw fit to repay a favor back my way," Neal said.

"It's just a blessing to win it," he added.

"The vehicle fits right into what I would buy. It will be a perfect fit into the family. I was needy of it," Neal said.

Tom Campbell, president of the Jackson Boys Youth League, said that the money raised from the drawing will go towards either new ball fields or maintenance of the existing ball fields.

Steve Schlick, general manager of Brennecke Chevrolet, was happy to have participated in the drawing and he and Campbell was real happy that the truck made Neal really happy.
