Hartzler is a Cass County Republican from Harrisonville who earned national attention with her 2010 general election defeat of longtime Rep. Ike Skelton. She held off Cass County prosecutor Hensley on Tuesday in a district that includes rural counties south of Kansas City as well as the redistricting addition of Boone County.

Libertarian Thomas Holbrook of Warrensburg and Constitution Party nominee Greg Cowan of Lebanon trailed the two women.
