SCOTT CITY -- Goodman Lumber and Supply Co. of Scott City has closed.
Owners Joe Goodman and Frank Bean cited tougher environmental regulations and codes and lower profitability as reasons for closing the company, which was founded in the mid-1940s by E.L. "Hap" Goodman and a son, Bob Goodman.
Bob Goodman purchased his father's interest in the business in 1963 and operated it until 13 years ago, when he sold it to Joe Goodman and Bean.
The firm had five employees.
"Some have other jobs, but some don't," said Bean.
