New Year's resolutions have been made and broken. The winter blahs have been banished for another season. Cold and flu bugs are a mere memory. Baseball has replaced basketball as the game to watch. We've somehow adjusted to DST. We've rushed through Lent. We've experienced the joys of Easter. We've confirmed some in the Faith. We've remembered those who have died for Faith and Country. We've blessed Moms and honored Grads. We've planted our gardens and mowed our lawns. It has been one frantic rush to get from January to June!

The days of June are times to slow down, relax and take it easy. No better time than June to enjoy the sights and smells and sounds of God's wondrous world. June days are perfect for get-togethers with family and friends. June days are right for remembering people with a card or a call. June days are perfect, too, for giving thanks to God, for praising God for all the good things in life, and for being faithful to God's Church wherever we happen to be in God's world.

There is nothing quite so rare as these God-given days of June. But I like most what James Whitcomb Riley has to say:

"Tell you what I like best, long about knee-deep in June;

Like to jes' git out and rest, and not work at nothin' at all."
