Marrianne Bruce shared her experiences in being an extra on the set of 'Gone Girl' as part of a project with the Southeast Missourian and rustmedia. This is the first of several stories to be published online.

__What role did you have in the movie's production?

I was an extra for one day only, but it certainly was an exciting experience! I was in the scene when Nick and Amy were returning from the hospital, and the crowd rushed the car in the driveway. I was only a foot from Ben's opened car door and I HOPE the scene makes it into the movie. It will be super cool to see all of the locals in the extras scenes.

__What kind of communication did you have with "Gone Girl" staffers? What were they like?:__

On a couple of days I went to watch filming, and the staff members were super nice. My friend and I spoke to several staffers who explained things and told us about upcoming ventures with the stars. They had a tough job in that they had to keep people quiet so they could get filming finished, but also wanted to project a good image of "Hollywood."

__How much time did you spend at the shoot?:__

I arrived at the shoot around 9:00 am and left around 10:00 pm. However, most of that time was spent sitting and waiting.

__What scenes did you participate in?:__

I was in a couple of the crowd scenes outside the home of Nick and Amy. In several scenes we moved toward the cars of the actors...

__What are you most looking forward to most about the movie?:__

I am looking forward to scouring the scenes for familiar faces. Several people I know were also in the production, and one of my friend's picture was in Entertainment Weekly, so I'm sure I'll get to see her face on the big screen! I'm super excited about going to the movie with friends. I will be so focused on the background "players" I might not even see the real stars!

__What else would you like to share about your experience with the filming of "Gone Girl" in Cape Girardeau?:__

I was talked into going to open casting by a friend. We didn't expect to get called to be an extra, but just did it for fun. I was called. She was not. I don't have any clue how they picked people, and would love to know if it was totally random or there was a method to their madness!
