JACKSON -- An amended rezoning request for a lighted nine-hole golf course in a residential area will return to the Planning and Zoning Commission Wednesday.
On Monday, the Jackson Board of Aldermen waived the usual two-year ban on rezoning and special-use permit applications for the property at 1600 N. High St. Ronald Clark's new application requests a combination rezoning and special-use permit and calls for a special-use permit for a 200-foot barrier of land between the golf course and surrounding subdivisions while the remainder of the land would be zoned commercial.
The zoning board had rejected Clark's request to have all the land rezoned from residential to commercial. A number of neighbors were concerned the property could be turned into a different commercial use if the golf course were sold.
The board reappointed David Ludwig, Dave Reiminger, Joe Bob Baker and Larry Hall to the Power and Light Committee, with Ludwig reappointed as chairman. Val Tuschoff, Kerry Hoffman, Dave Hitt and Larry Cunningham were reappointed to the Street Committee, with Tuschoff reappointed as chairman.
In other business, Mayor Paul Sander made the following appointments: Vicki Abernathy and Wayne Maupin, Planning and Zoning Commission; E.P. Kurre, James Litzelfelner and Kevin Ammon, Park Board; Jerry Stoverink, Board of Adjustments; Drs. T. Wayne Lewis, Ramiro Icaza and Dwight Johnson, Health Board; Sally Adams, Mary Beth Williams and Rob Goyette, Library Board; Sally Burke, Jim Johannes and Eleanor McGuire, Human Relations Board; Jim Maevers, Jackson Industrial Development Authority; Paul Sander, Joe Bob Baker and Dave Reiminger, Fund Raising Committee.
