Charity Emmons, Elizabeth Goehman, Laura Rickman and Rebecca Tompkins received the Girl Scout Gold Award recently during a ceremony at Old St. Vincent's Church.
The Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and has five requirements, including completion of a service project.
Emmons, the daughter of Donald and Mary Sue Emmons, is a senior at Notre Dame High School. She has been in Girl Scouting for 12 years with a special interest in horseback riding. In addition to earning the Gold Award, she completed the Wrangler in Training program at Camp Cherokee Ridge where she serves as a wrangler.
Goehman, the daughter of Norman and Letricia Goehman, is a senior at Jackson High School. A Girl Scout for 12 years, she integrated her interest in improving a campsite with her career interest in becoming an engineer and built a bridge at Camp Sacajawea.
Rickman, the daughter of Larry and Debra Rickman, is a senior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years.
Tompkins, a junior in high school, resides in Cape Girardeau with her mother Judy Tompkins. She has been a Girl Scout for 10 years. She attended a national program in Michigan that focused on marine biology. Her Gold Award project was carried out with the American Red Cross Disaster Services.
