Blood donations this holiday season are not meeting the anticipated demand. The American Red Cross is asking area residents to take an hour from their busy schedules and donate blood at one of two area drives next week.

On Monday, the Knights of Columbus 6420 and Ladies Auxiliary in Scott City will sponsor a drive from 3-7 p.m. at the Scott City Knights of Columbus Hall on Highway 61.

The monthly Cape Girardeau Community blood drive will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 2-7 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Convention Center, I-55 and Route K.

Donors at both drives will receive a complimentary holiday T-shirt for their gift.

To be eligible, potential donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old and in good health. Donors should bring their driver's license for identification.
