Each summer the Girls Scouts of the Otahki Council have a hard time finding qualified individuals to work as medics during the weeks of their council's resident camp, Cherokee Ridge. The scouts are looking for qualified individuals who know and understand the needs of growing girls.

Any physicians, physician's assistants, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, EMTs, paramedics, military medics or LPNs would meet the qualifications to serve as camp medic. Daughter s of those who volunteer can receive a week of camp free of charge in exchange for the volunteer medic services.

For those who do not have a daughter eligible to attend camp, monetary compensation is available. Volunteers for one day of the three-day camps would also be appreciated, for those who cannot stay a whole week.

Otahki Council serves all or part of the Southeast Missouri counties of Cape Girardeau, Scott, Stoddard, Bollinger, Perry, Madison, Wayne and Reynolds, as well as counties in southern Illinois. Interested individuals should contact Mary Jane Fieser, camping services director, at 334-7741.
