The Jackson/Oak Ridge area Girl Scouts are holding a fall registration for girls kindergarten through 12th grade next Thursday at 7 p.m. at Orchard Elementary School.
There will be Girl Scout volunteers available to answer questions about Girl Scouting. Adult volunteers are needed to work as leaders, assistant leaders, co-leaders, and other positions for each troop and do not have to be a parent. Training is provided for volunteers as well as support from the local Tsalagi Service Unit and Otahki Girl Scout Council.
Adult volunteers can attend service unit meetings the first Thursday of each month starting in September to receive upcoming information and supplies provided by the local Otahki Council. These meetings are held at the Elks Lodge in Jackson (lower level) starting at 7 p.m.
The Tsalagi Service Unit covers all girls living in the Oak Ridge and Jackson school boundaries. Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls -- all girls where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world.
In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. That is why they have adopted the theme "Girl Scouts, Where girls grow strong."
For those unable to attend registration you can contact Donna Kuntze, service unit registrar at 243-1527. For those outside this area or those needing information on special interest groups contact Otahki Girl Scout Council at 1-573-334-7741 or 1-900-686-0106 for more information. Girls Scouts of the USA are committed to building leaders of tomorrow one girl at a time.
