The earliest-known sighting of the lights dates to 1883, but today the lights continue to be seen in Texas, near the Big Bend region in Brewster and Presidio counties, and sometimes from adjacent Jeff Davis County. The lights can especially be seen in the area between Marfa, Texas, and the place known as the Paisano Pass to the east.

Krone took a video of the lights in 1989 while traveling to Mexico. The video has been subjected to scientific examination over the past two years by Harley D. Rutledge, professor of physics at Southeast Missouri State University.

The program will be held in the library's Hirsch Community Room, 711 N. Clark. For more information, contact Rhonda Chamley, adult services coordinator, at 334-5279.
