METROPOLIS, Ill. -- German foods, a quilt show, Volksmarch and German music and dancers will be in Metropolis Saturday for the first Germanfest at Dorothy Miller Park.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with registration for the Volksmarch, 5K and 10K walks.
The quilt show will be held at the Merv Griffin Theater along the banks of the Ohio River from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Among bands to appear during the day are the Kneeslappers from St. Louis, the Waterloo, Ill. German band, and Massac County High School Band, which will start the music at 11 a.m.
Other activities will include children's games and arts and crafts demonstrations.
