SCOTT CITY -- George Elmer Mungle, 85, formerly of Millersville, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1913, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Clarence and Minnie Mungle.
He married Birdie M. Smith July 15, 1936. She died July 1, 1974.
He worked in various sawmills in Cape Girardeau County and worked in the timber business. He was employed at the former Macke Stave Mill near Jackson and at Pioneer Orchard.
He attend the Pentecostal Church in Millersville.
Survivors include two sons, Paul "David" Mungle of Brookport, Ill., and Larry Mungle of Perryville; four daughters, Wilma Kester and Mary Bowers, both of Jackson, Eula Byerly of Paducah, Ky., and Shirley Eddleman of Whitewater; a brother, two sisters, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, two sons, two daughters and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Old Salem Cemetery near Millersville.
