Turner is the son of Larry and Dale Burrows of Jackson. He is a 1994 graduate of Jackson High School, he joined the Navy in September of last year.

Air craft carriers like the USS Constellation are forward deployed around the world to maintain a U.S. presence and provide rapid response in time of crisis. They serve as a highly visible deterrent to would-be aggressors and, if deterrence fails, offer the most versatile and powerful weapons available.

Over the first half of the deployment, Turner visited several ports of call which include Australia and the United Arab Emirates. Although Turner had the opportunity to experience the different cultures, he also took time out to spread goodwill and cheer to local children's hospitals and orphanages.

Probst reports for duty

Marine Lance Cpl. Kevin W. Probst recently reported for duty with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

He is the son of Harold and Pat Probst of Jackson. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1993.

Probst's new assignment is an example of how Navy and Marine Corps men and women are assigned to ships, squadrons and shore commands around the world. Whether serving in the Persian Gulf near Iraq or in the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia, people like Probst are making a difference as they work to improve their knowledge and skill as part of the most highly technical naval force in history.
