Bollinger County voters elected Roy Garner to serve on the Bollinger County Commission representing the second district.
It was the only contested race in Bollinger County.
Garner, a Republican, bested his Democratic opponent, Eldon Thorne by a wide margin, taking just under 75 percent of votes cast. Garner collected 2,528 votes to 855 for Thorne.
"I just want to thank everybody who voted for me and helped me through my campaign," Garner said Tuesday night. "And I look forward to going to work."
During his campaign, Garner cited Bollinger County road conditions as a priority.
"I don't believe in wasting what we have worked for," he told the Banner Press early in his campaign. "Taxpayers don't like to see money wasted. It's too hard to come by."
He fills the position currently held by Steve Jordan, who did not seek re-election.
