Gamecocks force decisive game in Ohio Valley Conference tourney

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Winston Pearson drove in six runs, including a two-run double in the top of the 10th inning, to help Jacksonville State rally past Austin Peay 8-7 Saturday afternoon in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The top-seeded Gamecocks' victory -- their second of the day -- forces a winner-take-all contest at noon today for the tournament title.

Second-seeded Austin Peay (37-22) led 4-0 after four innings, but Pearson's three-run homer in the fifth got Jacksonville State (35-24) back in the game.

Pearson's two-run double in the 10th put the Gamecocks ahead 8-6.

Earlier Saturday, Pearson homered twice and had three RBIs, as the Gamecocks eliminated Eastern Kentucky 11-6.

Missouri eliminated

Missouri, within one win of a spot in the Big 12 tournament championship game, lost twice Saturday and was eliminated.

Nebraska rallied to hand the Tigers a 5-4 loss, then romped 17-9.

Nebraska will meet Baylor in today's title contest in Oklahoma City. Baylor eliminated Texas 9-8 Saturday.

Missouri still is likely to receive an at-large regional berth when the NCAA tournament field is announced Monday.
