GALLERY 100 OPENS IN NEW LOCATION ON SUNDAY

Gallery 100 will hold a grand opening reception Sunday at its new location, 1707 Mt. Auburn Road, with an exhibit of Missouri architecture drawing in pen and ink by John Stoeckley.

The opening is planned from 2-4 p.m.

Stoeckley's "Americana Series" includes 90 works, 27 of which will be on display at Gallery 100. The exhibit will include Missouri historic sites, mills, covered bridges and rural locations. Prints of the entire collection will be available.

A native of Indiana, Stoeckley began his graphic arts career with the largest commercial printer in the United States. He moved to Louisiana, Mo. in 1985 and began developing his "Americana Collection" in pen and ink.

He researches the history of each building, studying old photos as well as his own photography of each site. Frequently he adds watercolors to the prints to further capture the historical setting.

Stoeckley began receiving commissions for his public works in 1991 and will be featured in a one-man show, "Historic Missouri in Pen and Ink," in the rotunda of the Old Courthouse in St. Louis this summer.

The exhibit runs through Jan. 28. Regular gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Gallery 100 is sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts. The gallery formerly had been located at 100 Broadway in the Boatmen's Bank building.
