People wishing to donate money to assist with the medical bills of a woman severely injured in Monday’s Cape Girardeau County shooting may contribute to a fund set up at two Cape Girardeau Regions Bank locations. Friends of the family established the fund Thursday in Kristina Bosco’s name, said Regions Bank branch manager Rebecca Harris. Donations may be made at the 101 S. Mount Auburn Road and 407 N. Kingshighway Regions banks, Harris said. Bosco is still in intensive care at Saint Francis Medical Center, said Dr. Joel Ray, the neurosurgeon who performed emergency surgery on Bosco. The shooting occurred Monday at a residence on Tecumseh Lane, where Bosco’s stepfather, Donald Newell, allegedly shot her several times before taking his own life. Though still in serious condition, Bosco’s recovery has surpassed expectations, Ray said Friday. She is no longer using a ventilator and was coherent and talking by Friday, he said. She also has begun responding to rehabilitative efforts, Ray said.
