A fund-raiser for the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today Aug. 28 at Sam's, 232 Shirley Drive.
Jeannie Heise, a nurse at Cape Girardeau Central High School, will be selling the salad dressing she makes. A portion of the proceeds will go to NASV, which serves children who have been sexually abused and adults who have been sexually assaulted. Funds also will be raised through the selling of snow cones and a car wash.
And donations will be accepted. Business owners and owners of rental property or farm property can get a 50 percent tax credit for donations to the Network Against Sexual Assault and Violence, said board president Tammy Gwaltney.
The agency provides sexual abuse and sexual assault victims everything from medical exams and collecting of medical and legal evidence to a place for interviews to advocacy and support.
The agency is raising money now to provide a 24-hour crisis line to victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse.
